This watch is what is referred to as a worldtimer--one the most desirable mechanical complications that you can find in a Swiss watch. Once set, it will show the proper time across 24 reference cities around the world, making it a great watch for globetrotters. Several years ago, Frederique Constant was on a roll introducing in-house manufacture watches at price points where no other Swiss competition existed. It's not a cheap watch by any means, but in-house worldtimer watches from other brands like JLC, B&M and Breitling start at 2x the MSRP. The movement is the true star of this piece. The movement is in-house and beautifully decorated with blued screws and perlage and brushing on the main plates and bridges. The movement is an automatic with a 38-42 hour power reserve. At the 6, you can find the date function. The case is 42mm across and 12mm thin, making this an excellent dress watch that can slide easily under a cuff. The lugs are pretty short, which means that it wears very comfortably on the wrist. The leather band is genuine alligator.
The watch comes with 2 buckles. I currently have it on the butterfly. The dial is also quite stunning. It's navy in color and represents a world map that is not just painted, but looks applied. Depending on how the light hits it, it can change from deep, dark blue in artificial light to bright blue in direct sunlight.
The indices are applied and lumed. The hands are sword-shaped and also lumed. I cannot reiterate how incredible of a value FC manufacture watches are, even at full list price. To top it off, this watch is a Youtube darling, with many watch reviewers giving it glowing reviews. Overall, a stunning, haute horlogerie piece that looks like new and would make for a great addition to any collection or a gift.
