ELGIN Swiss 60s Vintage Rarely Seen GMT Computer Automatic Pilot Watch AS1902/03

Up for sale is this extraordinary 1960s vintage ELGIN Swiss GMT Computer automatic mechanical wrist watch. In excellent working and cosmetic condition, it's a very rare tool watch designed for international travelers and pilots. On the front, besides the standard timekeeping hands, there's a striking blue/red checkered functional GMT hand for referencing a second time zone. Set against a bidirectional rotating 24 hour bezel.

The red portion of the 24 hour scale that was susceptible to UV light has long since faded. On the case back there's a circular rotating world time zones computer with corresponding cities all beautifully executed in stainless steel. The excellent matte black dial and chromed hands have their original lume in place.

All stainless steel 37 mm diameter case and original crown show light wear and tear overall. Has a clean acrylic crystal that is a newer replacement. The Swiss made 17 jewel ELGIN caliber 997 (base AS 1902/03) automatic movement is running strong and keeps excellent time. Just a beautiful copper beryllium finish.

I don't know its service history. All functions are working well. It's fitted with a vintage 19 mm Japan made Spiedel NSA style stainless steel bracelet.
