Serial dates this to 1974 I believe. There is not much documentation on this variant, it's quite rare.Everything I've seen shows that these originally had a polished case, not brushed like some of the more common vintage Seiko GMT Navigation Timer or or World time. Everything appears original and unrestored, with the factory polish case, dial, hands.
Case is in really great shape and lines are all really nice and crisp/sharp, even the little angle cuts on the bottom edges of the lugs look great, see photos. Crystal is crisp at the edges and shows no signs of a polish. The GMT bezel has no fade, and turns easily with no binding. Dial looks excellent and the linen finish in gorgeous shape.
Lume will charge a very small amount, glows for a very short period, and has a little of that vintage Seiko puff to it (just as I can see in my Seiko 6139 from the same era), further backing my belief that it is all original. Lume performance is uniform across hands and dial.
Took it out of the case last week and wore it around the house for a day and it kept great time. It's not perfect, it is a 45+ year old watch. You can see a few lines of scuffs in the crystal at about 11-12pm. The case has some of typical hairline imperfections and small scuffs that a mirror polished case will accumulate over the years, I've tried to photograph so that you can see these. That said, this is the best condition Seiko World Timer of any variant that I've ever seen in person. It's quite a treasure in my opinion. This listing is for the watch itself.
It does not include the cloth strap. I will include the Seiko metal bracelet however I do not know if it is original to this watch.
It was not on the watch when I bought it and I never installed it. The bracelet shows far more more signs of use than the watch itself, and some significant scuffs on the clasp, which lead me to think it was not paired with the watch since new. Feel free to ask questions, I'm happy to answer.
Listing photos are from my iphone. 9/4 - Added a couple photos for people.
